Retiring From...To...

by Marie G
(Ireland)

This is a follow on from my Introduction to Retirement.

What am I retiring from?

From a French upbringing, from an international career as a teacher, an engineer and a veterinary nurse (in that order). All this in 3 countries and 2 continents. Without forgetting 40 years of married life, producing 2 sons and one grand-daughter.

What am I retiring to?

A more relaxed life: the alarm from the clock has become only occasional.

A reduction of stress: my new obligations and commitments are by choice.

A different nutrition: the daily physical activities being considerably reduced, the intake of fat has to be seriously reconsidered.

The same marriage: so far so good.

A new career: not technically (as it is not bringing a regular income), but literally (a new beginning in writing).
